Who are you?- Kirsten
In a contemporary portrait, is it enough to just portray a beautiful woman? Or should the portrait convey who she is besides beautiful? This image of Kirsten was part of a concept shoot to illustrate who she is. Personally I think we nailed it. I would love to hear opinions from others who know her. If we were to photograph you, who would you be?
Contemporary portrait of a woman and her children
This mom went a step beyond what we have done thus far in that she wanted pictures with her daughter, but also her son.(much to his dismay) Boys and later Men, as a rule aren’t much into pictures, but I think this time we pulled it off. We got some abosolutely gorgeous shots of Tiffany, and then daughter Grace and son Landen. Then we put them all together and had a little fun! I hope she enjoys these images as much as I loved taking them! Hair and makeup by Stefani Smith.

Family photos – The Murray 5
Sounds like a gang in the old westerns doesn’t it! In this case though, The Murray 5 are the Murray grandchildren. They range in age from 6 to 2 weeks. It was wild, crazy, stressful….and wonderful! Their expressions and attitudes are open, natural and so unique to each child.

Mahomet Baby pictures – Amelia is 6 months
Actually this portrait sitting was closer to 7 months, but they are still adorable! This age, when they are sitting and starting to babble, is such a hoot! We had the bonus of being able to photograph her in her Halloween costume. Isn’t she just too cute? And I love how mom and dad totally focus on her in the family photo. Who wants to look at a silly old photographer when you can look at a beautiful baby girl?
Fisher Family Portraits – The Hamiltons
I love shooting portraits of families with small children. You never know what to expect! We had a lovely evening at the Lake of the Woods Botanical Gardens and 5 wonderful and 3 unpredictable subjects! Every family is so unique, and I love it when I can get them all together like this first photo, as one big squishy, hugging unit. It says to me; “this is my family and we stick together. Us against the world”. And then there are times where you have to work with what you have, which in this case was a 14 month old who was done being held…She wanted down, so we gave her down….and walking! Every shoot has hilarious outtakes and this one in particular was just too funny! Our final image here is way outside any concept of traditional, but if you have ever had kids and a swingset, you can so totally relate and remember. I have said before, I want my photographs to tell stories, and I think the story titled Family has been told here well!

Ingrum family
These are the Ingrums, who came to me as part of a fundraising event at an area preschool that Jack and Jordyn attend! We had lots of fun and got a little crazy. I love that they were willing to be themselves and laugh and hug and generally go with the moment!
The Hoffman family
Another family with members flung far and wide, the Hoffman family gathered in November for an anniversary celebration. They have waited very patiently for me to get caught up and get their images online. Thank you!
Elkins family portraits
Sometimes it seems as if the hardest part of a family portrait is finding a time to get everyone together…especially if your kids are in college and have busy lives of their own. However a special request managed to get all of the Elkins’ home for at least part of a day and we had the opportunity for this wonderful family shoot!
Smith Family
The Smith Family Photo Shoot was alot of fun. Cindy got everyone together before her adult kids went off again to their respective lives. It was rather warm, so everyone was “glowing” and Tim was a trooper to lug my bench seat all around the Mahomet Botanical Gardens. When the bugs came out though, we got finished rather quickly! Great family; beautiful inside and out!
Campos family 2011
Recently I had the pleasure of photographing the wonderful Campos family at their home. Although the mosquitos and the kittens were a definate distraction, I feel like we truly captured the personalities of the family.
